What is it about School Sports Day that brings out the child in you and evokes pleasant memories of our own childhood? The smell of the freshly cut grass, the flags, the whistle, the finishing line, the missed opportunities, the ‘I nearly did it’ stories, the ice-creams, the proud parents, the falls, the tears, the laughter, the joy, the medals or lack of them, the field, the feel of the grass under your toes, the megaphone, the cheers, the thrills, the chairs outside, the freedom, ….Oh those carefree days!! Scoil Barra’s 29th Annual Sports Day 2014 had it all in abundance! Lots of laughter and fun and new memories for the younger generation of hopeful athletes and dreamers! The PFA added a new dimension to the ‘feel good’ factor of the day with their gorgeous cakes and refreshing teas and coffees. And of course those big, beautiful, colourful bouncy castles make it extra special entirely almost as delightful as the ‘99 cone’ with butterscotch sauce on the way home at the end of another glorious school sports day!!
