Scoil Barra girls do us proud!

Last week, the Scoil Barra girls played in the Munster FAI Schools 5-a-side competition in Nenagh, Co. Tipperary. While the changeable weather did its best to make life difficult on the pitch, Scoil Barra entertained their travelling supporters to some fantastic football and scored some outstanding goals to qualify from their group. A 2-2 draw with the Clare champions and a 5-0 victory over the Tipperary champions was enough to send the Cork champions through as group winners. Next up was the challenge of Waterford in the semi-final and again the girls played brilliantly, scoring 4 more goals and conceding none. Onto the final they marched where they met a very good team in Limerick. After conceeding early in the first half, the Scoil Barra Blues showed great courage and determination to change the game around but sadly ran out of time. Well done to the all the squad (Zara Foley, Emma Wolfe, Kaja Sikora, Emma O’Connor, Siobhán Keane, Kara Lacey, Ciara Healy, Aideen Kelly and Lara Halici) who made Scoil Barra supporters, coaches and staff very proud. Thanks also to all who helped out especially Stephen O’Mahony (FAI Development Officer) and Fergus McDaid (FAI Schools Co-ordinator).
