Pre-Easter Message from the Principal to Parents and Families

Friday 3rd April 2020

Dear Parents and Pupils,

This is probably one of the most frightening and challenging times that we will ever experience in our lifetime…..and in times of challenge, we always have to work really hard at finding our inner strength and resilience. We have to work hard at being positive instead of negative, of trying to think of others more than we usually do and we particularly have to work hard at having faith and hope that the difficult time will eventually pass and things will get better and brighter.

I know the last three weeks have been very strange where ‘school’ and ‘learning’ had to happen at home and without your teachers, SNAs and classmates. From the feedback I have gotten, I am so heartened and proud of you all for making such huge efforts to work and learn in this strange new environment…but I also keep saying…DO NOT WORRY…when we get back to school, all the work will be revised and explained again so no one has to be afraid of losing out or falling behind.

If you were in school today, you would be getting a half-day and delighted to be running out of school heading home for 2 weeks!! It won’t quite be the same this year. However, I would recommend taking the foot off the pedal a little for the next two weeks so there is some feeling of a ‘break’ from the work…..everyone needs that feeling.

On behalf of Mr. Harrington, myself and all the staff in Scoil Barra, I want to wish you all a healthy and happy Easter despite the challenges we are facing.

Yours sincerely,

Karen O’Sullivan (Principal)
