Nature Trek 2014 Rocked! A Beautiful ‘Belle’, an army of Ballincollig G.A.A. fans in ‘combat green’, near perfect conditions for a jump in muddy puddles that would even have pleased Peppa Pig, and a party that was absolutely scrumdiddlyumptious!!! The pupils of Scoil Barra were on the ‘pig’s back’ on Friday last as they headed out the school gates on their Annual Nature Trek through the Regional Park. This was Scoil Barra’s 29th Nature Trek and this particular occasion turned out to be as much fun if not more than any of its predecessors! The Nature Trek of course continues to be an invaluable source of funding for the school but it’s the expected routines and customs are what make it such a big hit day on the school calendar. Where would we be without the wellies, the plastic bags, the raingear, the buns, the cakes, the jellies, the chocolate, the fizzy drinks, the plastic covering on the corridors, the spare socks, the change of shoes, the giggles, the smiles, the laughter….. The Guest of Honour on the day was past pupil and current Belle of Ballincollig, Laura Barry. Indeed Laura with her bubbly, friendly personality was a massive hit with all the pupils. After all, it isn’t every day you get to meet, talk with and question a real life Princess!! Congratulations to all the walkers, their families, their very generous sponsors and to Ms. Lande for organising the day’s events. Can’t wait to do it all over again next year!!
