This year 6th class once again made the trip across the Irish Sea to Manchester. 55 pupils and 8 teachers took in the sites of Dublin, Manchester and Liverpool over the course of four days. On Wednesday we headed to Croke Park in Dublin where we were guided through the stadium and the dressing rooms. We also got to take in the view from the highest point in the Davin Stand! After our stop in Croke Park we set sail for Manchester. On Thursday we had a fascinating trip to Knowsley Safari Park where a bus tour of the park brought us amidst lions, elephants, baboons, giraffes and many other exotic creatures. This year we received a extra special treat as our bus drove very close to a pride of resting lions! We also met two super intelligent sea lions, Roger and Arthur, who entertained us with their tricks and footballing skills. After lunch we returned to Manchester and ‘shopped till we dropped’ in the magnificent Trafford Shopping Centre. After shopping we had plenty of strikes in the bowling lanes of the Trafford Shopping Centre.
Early rise on Friday for Alton Towers, where the pupils enjoyed the fast, the high and the turbulent rides of Galactica, Oblivion, Smiler, Nemesis and Rita. The good weather ensured the children really enjoyed their day.
Congratulations to our pupils who were impeccably behaved and received the plaudits of all who encountered them. Well done also to the travelling teachers who enjoyed a well deserved rest on their return to Ballincollig on Saturday night.
