Scoil Barra was thrilled to welcome the White Horse Guitar club with special guest Liam O’Maonlaí to the school today. Liam was in Ballincollig to perform with the Hothouse Flowers as the headline act at the White Horse Winter Music Festival. One of the initiatives the festival promotes is Music in the Community and Scoil Barra was one of the venues where Liam chose to perform. Our Student School Council did a marvellous job in warmly welcoming our esteemed guest to Scoil Barra on this auspicious occasion. After the very brief formalities, Liam took to the stage, worked his magic and instantaneously we were all captivated! Such a beautiful, natural and raw style of performance. Simply breathtaking! Staff and pupils alike were treated to songs such as “An Raibh tú ag an gCarraig?”, “Forever Young” and of course the timeless classic, “Don’t Go.”. Two of Scoil Barra’s fifth class pupils, twins, Hervé and Christopher Kumanzembe also accompanied Liam on percussion and he was suitably impressed with their talents. We in Scoil Barra, feel privileged to have been part of such a wonderful experience, an afternoon to remember in the years to come. Sincere thanks to Ms. McAdoo for organising this memorable gig for us all to enjoy. Who knows who’ll be our next high profile guest might be……..It will be a tough act to follow……In the meantime sing away to your heart’s content!
“Don’t go,don’t leave me now, now, now…. While the sun smiles, stick around and laugh a while, yeah……”
